Engineering programs at this level are delivered as a Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Engineering, sitting at AQF Levels 5 and 6. Indicative total tuition commonly ranges from around AUD 12,000 to AUD 20,000, reflecting the laboratory and CAD components involved. These figures are indicative only and vary by provider, engineering discipline, and city.
A Diploma of Engineering typically takes around one to one-and-a-half years of full-time study, while progressing to an Advanced Diploma generally extends the journey to roughly two years. Both are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and can serve as a bridge to a bachelor's degree through credit recognition at Australian universities. Most providers run several intakes a year, commonly in February, April or May, July, and October.
Because engineering covers distinct streams such as civil, mechanical, electrical, and electronics, fees and structures differ between providers. Active Study helps you choose the right discipline and provider, then confirms the exact current tuition and intake dates before you enrol.
Engineering is one of Australia's most consistently in-demand fields, which makes it a strong basis for a migration plan. The course entry notes that civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers are on both the MLTSSL and state occupation lists. Because of this national listing, eligible applicants may be able to pursue independent and nominated skilled visas such as the subclass 189, 190, and 491, subject to a positive skills assessment from the relevant engineering assessing authority, your points score, and the current occupation lists.
