What You'll Study

Active Study's Nursing Course for international students offers an intensive and comprehensive pathway to becoming a proficient healthcare professional. Equip yourself with the knowledge and skills required in the dynamic field of nursing - one of Australia's most consistently skill-short occupations.

Nursing programs at the enrolled nurse level cover foundations of nursing practice, person-centred care, medication administration, wound care, infection control, clinical documentation, and communication with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary healthcare team.

Clinical placements in hospitals, aged-care facilities, and community health centres are a mandatory component, building your confidence and competence in real healthcare environments. Simulation labs prepare you for high-acuity situations in a safe setting.

Programs lead to a Diploma of Nursing - the nationally recognised qualification for Enrolled Nurses (EN) in Australia, regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Cost and duration of Nursing courses in Australia

Fees & Timeline

Cost, Duration & Intake Dates

Nursing at the enrolled nurse level leads to a Diploma of Nursing, an AQF qualification regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). The Diploma typically takes around 18 months to 2 years of full-time study, including mandatory clinical placements in hospitals, aged-care facilities and community health settings. Indicative tuition for an international student is commonly in the region of AUD 18,000 to 30,000 in total, though fees vary by provider and location.

Providers usually offer several intakes a year, with common start dates around February, April or May, and July, and some campuses adding an October intake. As clinical placement structures, fees and start dates differ between training organisations, treat these figures as indicative only and confirm them before enrolling. Active Study will match you with an AHPRA-aligned provider, verify the current fees, and help you plan the right intake around the English and placement requirements.

Permanent residency pathway after a Nursing course in Australia

Study to PR

Your PR Pathway After This Course

After completing your Diploma of Nursing and meeting AHPRA registration requirements, you can work as an enrolled nurse and, where eligible, apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to gain Australian experience. Many enrolled nurses also progress to registered nurse status through bridging programs, which can further strengthen migration prospects.

Enrolled Nurse is listed on Australia's Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), making nursing one of the more direct pathways to permanent residency through the General Skilled Migration program, with options such as the subclass 189, 190 and 491 available subject to a successful skills assessment and your points. Because points thresholds, occupation lists and assessment criteria change over time, eligibility depends on your circumstances and current requirements, and PR cannot be guaranteed. Active Study's MARA-registered agents will map your complete pathway from study to skilled migration.
